A network that serves everyone must belong to no one
Our independence is written into our constitution rather than left to goodwill.

Members elect the board. The board oversees the work. Partners and government take part, but neither controls the Network.

Our commitments
Non-profit
Registration is in progress in Sierra Leone as a company limited by guarantee, with an asset lock so its resources can never pass to founders or members.
Member-elected board
A majority of independent directors and an independent Chair, with three-year terms and a six-year limit that applies to founders too.
No special rights
No founder, partner or funder holds a reserved seat, a veto or a right to appoint directors.
Non-partisan
Holders of elected political office or senior party roles cannot serve as independent directors.
Open about relationships
The Network was incubated with support from the Institute for Development (IfD) and works with IfD Tech, under written agreements approved by independent directors. Directors' interests are published.
Run by its members
Our secretariat is being built with volunteers from the membership, in the Network's own name and systems.
The first board
We are recruiting an independent Chair and directors through an open process. See the open seats on the founding board.
