Sierra LeoneResearch and Evidence Network Join

Evidence that Sierra Leone shapes, produces and uses

We connect the people who produce research in Sierra Leone with the people who make decisions, so that policy and practice rest on evidence Sierra Leoneans help create and own.

An independent, non-profit, member-led network based in Freetown.

Solid lines join interventions that have been compared head to head in studies; thicker lines mean more studies. Two thin amber lines show comparisons that have never been studied directly but can be estimated through the rest of the network. A great deal of research is done in and about Sierra Leone

Too little of it reaches the people deciding how to spend a health budget, design a school programme or respond to the next outbreak.

Studies sit in separate places. A few reach a decision, mostly by chance.

On the right, three decisions: a health budget, a school programme and an outbreak response. Today only a few studies reach a decision. How the Network works

We start from the questions decision makers face and bring together the people who can answer them, with shared platforms to support the work.

What we do

Frame the question, check what is known, produce the evidence, bring it back to the decision and keep it current.

Members

Producers, users and the intermediaries who carry evidence between them, in one network.

Platforms

Sabi Salone and Sabi Core give members a searchable evidence library and tools for keeping reviews up to date.

Started by researchers who have spent their careers on evidence in Sierra Leone

The Network's founding directors, Regina Mamidy Yillah and Augustus Osborne, are now recruiting an independent Chair and board.
